Alumna Barbara A. Hulick, who was recently appointed Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance, Produce Alliance LLC., says she plans, “to spread my wings further and help more and more players in the food industry achieve safety, quality and success in their businesses. That to me is a very rewarding goal.”
Reaching her goals seems to come naturally to Barbara. She heard about the Online Master of Science in Food Safety program from a colleague when the program was two years old in 2004. She enrolled in 2005, graduated in 2008, but she did not stop there.
“As the regulatory climate intensifies in this country and globally, a multi-disciplinary team, combining food safetyexpertise and legal knowledge is essential,” said Barbara. She continued her graduate education and obtained a Master of Jurisprudence in Global Food Law at MSU. “I had my eyes opened as I began the courses and study by the MS in Food Safety program. Finding the access, vigor and quality of instruction to be outstanding, I really felt engaged and enriched, so I continued on to obtain my MJ in Global Food Law.”
Looking to her next goal, Barbara said, “I plan to leverage my experiences as Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance at Produce Alliance to expand into third party consulting with our affiliate company, Food Safety Partner. I will bring years of practical experiences and the nuts and bolts tools I have gained from this program to help a wide variety of businesses improve their processes and gain an understanding of the unique risks facing their particular business model.”
